The Oceanarium turns 10
Shedd Aquarium's Oceanarium
turns 10 in 2001, and Shedd wants you to help celebrate! The year-long Oceanarium celebration
will immerse guests in new experiences and explorations, and highlight the numerous advances
Shedd has made in research, conservation and education. Fun activities and events will abound.
Learn about the training and care of the Oceanarium's dolphins, beluga whales, sea otters,
seals and penguins.

Jazzin' at the Shedd
Visit Shedd Aquarium every Thursday night this summer for Jazzin' at the Shedd. Now in its sixth season, Jazzin' at the Shedd keeps Shedd Aquarium open late Thursday nights until 10 p.m in June, July and August. See the dolphins, whales and penguins in the Oceanarium. Enjoy the pasta, seafood or grill items available for dinner in Soundings restaurant. Visit with the 8,000 inhabitants of the Aquarium or just relax as a live jazz band performs on the north terrace overlooking the beautiful Chicago skyline.

Family Overnight: Asleep with the Fishes
Pack your bag (your sleeping bag, that is!) and come to Shedd Aquarium for an overnight adventure! This program is designed for families with children ages 5 and up. Enjoy dinner, a special dolphin presentation in the Oceanarium and visit with seals, beluga whales, otters and penguins. The evening finishes with a bedtime snack and a dive presentation in the Caribbean Reef. After that, unroll your sleeping bag and fall asleep with the fishes. In the morning, enjoy a continental breakfast and watch the animals in the Oceanarium as they start their day at Shedd. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9 a.m. the next day.
