Judging and Winning ADDY® Awards
We’re thrilled to have won the ADDY® Award of Distinction in the North Los Angeles area for our rebranding campaign for Midtown Athletic Club. We are even more excited that our creative director, Olga Weiss, was invited to help judge the contest last month.
Conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the local ADDY® Awards is the first of a three-tier, national competition, attracting over 50,000 entries annually.
Entering the ADDYs supports the entire industry, because the AAF, and its local and district affiliates, uses the proceeds to enhance advertising through such programs as public service, internships, advocacy groups, advertising education and consumer awareness.
Having judged several local and district ADDY shows in the past, Olga selected the winner of the Inland Empire professional competition. Among the numerous entries, was a well-executed hospital brochure what judges unanimously decided was a clear best in show. Compelling writing paired with handwritten quotes and original photography and illustrations created a unique and touching product.
Typically, ADDY Awards receive many website digital entrees. This year the Inland Empire had only handful of websites to everyone’s surprise. The difference between the quality of traditional and digital advertising was very noticeable for this particular market.
“After working in this industry for over 15 years, it never ceases to amaze me that it doesn’t matter how big a company or budget is,” she says. “The best concept is always a winner.”
“It was a wonderful experience to see that many creative advertising ideas are fueling local economy,” she says. “And it’s always fun to meet fellow judges and American Advertising Federation members.”
I Imagine was notified of winning an ADDY one month later, so Weiss and graphic designer Joseph Choi attended the award ceremony and banquet in Valencia, CA where they met fellow creatives from local companies, heard their stories and partook in discussions about creative processes and latest technology trends.
